This is a call for all memories of Joe. If you have a fun (or a serious) memory of JoJo, we would love to hear it. Thanks for all of your outpouring of love...
This is Lisa Macedo (Griffin). I talked with Michelle this morning and she told me about Joe. I have been reading all that I can online about your families this morning to catch up on everything. My love goes to Tanith and to your families. I used to babysit Joe! He always had the sweetest smile. He helped me make mac 'n' cheese once because I didn't know how :( I know the Lord is watching over you. I live in Idaho 40 min. from BYU-I so let me know if you EVER need anything. Our prayers are with you!
This is laycy long (Hutchinson) I remember going with Joe to the "haunted basement" along with a few girls and Chris Clark. Both boys had girls attached to their arms as we walked through the dark to the scary basement. As we were walking we heard a snap and Chris took off screaming like a girl leaving us behind. Little did he know someone stepped on a twig. Joe got a couple more girls to protect on the way back. On the way back Joe decided he had to pee lol so off he went in the dark. A couple of us held back to make sure Joe got back safely. By the time he got back the others were already in the car so we plotted to convince our friend Steph that we saw a goat and it went after Joe. I'm pretty sure she believed us. I have lots of memories of Joe and they are all full of fun and life. I could always count on him to make me laugh! He will be so missed!
Joseph: The Bassett Scrooge. LOL! I will always remember making our family movie in Colorado called "The Bassett Carol". For some reason Joe was picked to be the main character of scrooge...the longer we got in to making the movie the more impressed I was with his acting skills. He did a fabulous job playing the stern, bossy, unfriendly scrooge. However, by the end of the movie, he was back to himself; a happy, jolly, smiley fellow. I think my favorite scene of the whole movie was Joe leading the entire Bassett clan in a rousing round of "We're All Together Again". On a more serious note though, I've always been so impressed with Joe's friendly, gentle ways, while still having a great time. In addition to his contagious personality, he seemed (like his Dad) to know a little bit about basically everything. We will miss (but always remember) Joe's big smile and happy personality. Indeed someday, we'll be "all together again" and maybe he will get to be the one to lead us in singing about it :).
When I was a young teenager, I was determined to marry Joe someday. We joked that we'd someday get married and live on a bus. I'm also a little embarrassed to say that I nicknamed him "cherries" and would draw cherries all over everything I owned and had cherry chap-stick and cherry shoe laces and cherry everything. Once I was over my "cherries phase", I just thought of Joe as a great friend, and loved hanging out at the park with him and other friends. I have to say that when I found out that Joe and Tanith were dating, I was SO EXCITED. I couldn't have possibly imagined a cuter couple. My thoughts and prayers are constantly with you, Tanith! Love to you all.
